ID documents
Turn a photo of your ID into a PDF — privately
When someone asks for a copy of your ID as a PDF, you can build it on your own device. The photos stay in your browser tab.
Steps
- Photograph the front (and back, if asked) on a dark, plain surface with even light and no glare.
- Open JPG to PDF and add both photos. Put the front first.
- Choose Letter or A4 and Fit, so no edge of the card is cut off.
- Convert and save the PDF, then send it only through the channel the requester specified.
Privacy tips
- Only share what was requested. If a number does not need to be visible, ask whether you may cover it.
- Consider a note on the copy, such as "For [purpose] only, [date]", if the requester allows it.
- Delete stray copies from your downloads and chat apps after sending.
- Before sending, Safe to send can help check a PDF for extra data.
Size
If the PDF is too large for email or an upload form, compress the photos first with Compress JPG, then rebuild the PDF.
